This year Thanksgiving was a little bittersweet for us. We had spent many a happy year at my Aunt's house in Tustin on Thanksgiving, surrounded by family and friends. But, her kids grew up and moved away and have families of their own now. Same with my brother. And, the past five years or so we began going to Barrington to be with Grandma Helen, Anne, Laurel and Shaun for the holiday. The traveling and seeing a movie on Thanksgiving (and not cooking) was fun, but since Grandma died there is no reason to travel this year. Anne is doing her own thing in PA, my mom is with my brother and my Aunt is having a small gathering at her place - only my Uncle Michael, my grandfather and PJ, his nurse were there. It was a tough decision, but we chose to stay home this year and have a nuclear family Thanksgiving.
Everyone had to contribute something. Bill made sweet potatoes, Griffin mashed 10 lbs of potatoes, Zoey made macaroni and cheese and Aidan was going to make rolls but something went horribly wrong and we ended up with biscuits instead. Liane set the table, made place settings, decorations and flower arrangements and told us we all had to dress up! So we did and it was a blast!

Fort in his new spot |
Aidan in his antique tuxedo from Grandma Annie, his beret from his Che Guevara Halloween costume and the sash from his biography fair costume from last year, Emperor Franz the First of Austria.

Yes, at the age of 13 he IS taller than me. |
Aidan helped Griffin to get dressed up for dinner. Notice the lack of shoes for each child?
